Force [Sovoobraznye] Of strigiformes

Predatory birds, that lead a predominantly night way of life. The base of hooked beak is covered with the skin, [voskovitsey], usually finned. They nest on the earth, the cliffs, on the trees, in the hollows or in the structures. Many forms live settled or accomplishing irregular migrations, but some regularly fly away to the winter to the south. Food - in essence rodents and bird, in small owls - insects. Within the limits of Russia the force is two families ([Shtegman], Ivanov, 1978).
